Academic integrity
CitedWriter is a research and writing assistant. It helps you find sources, read them, organise your argument and write clearly. It is not a ghost-writer, and we don't build features to hide AI use.
1. Citations are never invented
The AI is told never to write references, and our software removes any it tries to add. You cite papers from your library, and a paper only becomes citable after its DOI or identifier resolves on Crossref, OpenAlex, arXiv or PubMed and the registered title matches. Imported BibTeX stays marked “unverified” until it passes.
2. Every AI suggestion is logged
For each suggestion we record the time, the task (for example, paraphrase or autocomplete), the model, an excerpt of the input and output, and whether you accepted it. Entries are chained with SHA-256 hashes, so any later edit to the log is detectable. You can't edit or delete individual entries.
3. Share it with your supervisor
Create a read-only link to a document's AI-use log in one click, and revoke it any time. The log page shows a summary, every entry and whether the chain is intact.
4. Declare AI use properly
Universities increasingly ask for a statement naming the AI tools, versions, purposes and extent of use. CitedWriter writes one from your log, ready for your declaration page.
5. Checks are honest about their limits
Our similarity pre-check compares your draft with scholarly abstracts, your PDFs and your other documents; it is not a substitute for your university's DrillBit, ShodhShuddhi or Turnitin report. AI-likeness scores are probabilistic and can be wrong, especially for non-native writers, so we never present them as proof.
6. Your work stays yours
Documents are private by default and are not used to train AI models. AI runs on Surge Software Solutions' own servers by default. You can export everything or delete your account from Settings.
