CitedWriter is operated by Surge Software Solutions Private Limited (“we”). This policy explains what we collect and why.

What we collect

Your email address, the profile details you give us (name, level, field, institution, country, preferences), your documents, library, PDFs, literature tables, AI-use log, usage counts and billing records. We do not store card or UPI details; Razorpay and Stripe handle payments.

How we use it

To run the service, enforce plan limits, send sign-in codes, renewal reminders and service emails, prevent abuse, and improve the product using aggregate statistics. We never sell your data and never use your documents to train AI models.

Who processes it

AI requests run on language models on our own servers. If those are unavailable a request may go to Anthropic's Claude API. Short search phrases, titles and DOIs go to OpenAlex, Semantic Scholar, Crossref, arXiv and PubMed. Payments go to Razorpay (India) or Stripe. Email goes through our email provider.

Your rights

You can export your documents and library at any time and delete your account from Settings, which deletes your data. Under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 you may also ask us to access, correct or erase your data, or raise a grievance, by writing to [email protected].

Retention

We keep your data while your account is active. Billing records are kept as long as tax law requires.
