Costs, credit and refunds

Free

CitedWriter is free. Our AI runs on Surge's own servers and paper search uses free scholarly indexes, so writing, citing, PDF chat, literature tables and checks cost you nothing. Fair-use limits (listed on the pricing page) keep the shared server fast.

Optional, at cost

Some third-party services cost us money. If you choose one, you pay exactly what it costs us, with no markup:

• Claude (Anthropic) when our AI server is busy. Off by default. Turn it on in Settings → Costs. Each call is charged at Anthropic's list price per token and listed with its token counts.
• Licensed web plagiarism database. Not offered yet.

Credit

You load credit in Settings → Costs (UPI, cards and netbanking through Razorpay in India; cards through Stripe elsewhere). The whole amount becomes credit; gateway fees are on us. Credit doesn't expire.

Refunds

Email us from your account email and we refund the unused part of your credit to the original payment method (5–10 working days).
