Similarity, AI-likeness and claim checks
What each check does and what it doesn't.
Similarity pre-check
Compares your draft (minus quotes and the reference list) with scholarly abstracts found by searching distinctive phrases, your library PDFs and your other documents. It reports a percentage, the UGC 2018 level and the matching sources. Your university's official check covers more sources, so treat ours as an early warning.
UGC 2018 levels
- Level 0: up to 10%, no penalty
- Level 1: above 10% to 40%, revise and resubmit within six months
- Level 2: above 40% to 60%, debarred from resubmitting for one year
- Level 3: above 60%, registration may be cancelled
AI-likeness
Combines text statistics with a model's judgement, per paragraph. Detectors are unreliable, especially for non-native writers. Never treat a score as proof; your AI-use log is the real record.
Claim check
For each sentence with a citation, checks whether the cited paper's PDF or abstract supports it, and flags those that aren't supported.
Structure check
For thesis templates, lists required sections that are missing.
